With the introduction of AppleShare IP 5.0, Apple took a product designed primarily for small Macintosh workgroups and gave it enterprise capabilities. The traditional file server application is still there, but now it supports file sharing over AppleTalk (AFP), TCP/IP (FTP) and a new hybrid, AppleTalk over TCP (AFP/TCP). The print spooler is there too, but with expanded capabilities. Completely new to the product are a fast Web server, reliable email server and simple DNS server.
This book is a comprehensive guide to deploying and managing your Mac OS server. It covers all of the issues paramount to any server administrator or Webmaster.
